Jay Wisnicki, M.D., Chairman of the Department of Ophthalmology at the prestigious Beth Israel Medical Center in New York, is one of very few individuals with expertise in medicine, engineering, computer science and the Internet, including telemedicine. As a leading expert in ophthalmology, he lectures in pediatric ophthalmology, as well as adult ocular motility (eye muscle) disorders. Internationally recognized, his extensive experience in clinical and academic medicine includes teaching, research and hospital administration.

Dr. Wisnicki holds a degree in electrical engineering and has won numerous awards in the application of computer and information technology in medicine. With a dual background in engineering and medicine, he is frequently called upon to consult for companies, which include Sun Microsystems, McGraw Hill, and ORBIS International. He also serves on the board of directors of various Internet start ups, advising on the Internet and Healthcare.

With an international circulation of over 20,000, it is the most widely circulated periodical in ophthalmology. The composition of some of his recent articles in the "Times" involved close collaboration with high-level executives from Microsoft and Drugstore.com

In addition to being a founding member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology's New Educational Technology Committee, he has also directed the Academy's first symposium on information technology on the campus of and in cooperation with Sun Microsystems.
